Janet and Steve's Big Week!
Today marks the 35th wedding anniversary for Janet and Steve Elkins!
To celebrate the momentous occasion we asked about their Special Song.
It turns out to be ACE with "How Long Has This Been Going On". Befitting, don't you think, for two introspective and intellectual types who probably did not take it for granted way back when that they would celebrate this many years as husband and wife today!
We will play their tune! But wait, there is more reason to celebrate! Tomorrow is Steve's birthday and on the 28th is Janet's turn to blow out the candles on her cake! It's a three day party but do not worry, we are at work!
"A couple things about this song. 1: this is definitely in my top 5 all time favorite one hit wonders from the 70's! Its gorgeous wistful hook /chorus is still as captivating today as it was when it came out 38 years ago {and still rocks with its heavy lead guitar part breakdown in the middle of the song! } ...
and 2: much to the chagrin of many, including me, who thought the song was about a boyfriend /girlfriend breakup lament, turns out lead singer Paul Carrack composed the song upon discovering that bassist Terry Comer had been secretly working with other bands. Comer returned to Ace (the name of the band who did the song : ) in time to play on the song! ...
ok, and 3 : It's Janet and Steve's anniversary song, so happy anniversary and major kudos from yours truly picking such a cool song for it!!! xoxoxo : ) ~ dj matt cornwall "
