A Team Building Day Idea: Cultural Tourism in Our Neighborhood

Image
Just before the holidays the workload eased up enough to schedule a Team Building Field Trip. We explored a world renowned work of public art, located 4 miles from our offices! We followed Culture with Cuisine. Next time you visit EventWorks we offer to take you because it turns out that Watts is hot!   We probably pay more attention to cultural sites as we travel around the world but we have the opportunity to visit a world famous National Historic Landmark blocks away from our offices: Watts Towers. Simon Rodia's master work was the Italian immigrant's labor of love and obsession, 34 years of non-stop construction, done by hand with the help of simple tools and donated materials. Truly inspiring! The Towers have always attracted international visitors but they have recently seen a growing interest from the local art and education scene.    Carolyn Vasi, Production Manager: "Our team of artisans and design artists could really appreciate the unbelievable achi...

Here our report. SPACE SHUTTLE ENDEAVOUR AT THE CALIFORNIA SCIENCE CENTER. Catch it while you can: the Space Shuttle in flight mode will be closing by the end of 2016. The California Science Center in Exposition Park is expanding. A new addition will house Endeavour, scheduled to reopen in early 2018. And at that time the Space Shuttle will be placed in launch position! So if you are dreaming of a glamorous affair under the belly of Endeavour, book now! What you need to know: the museum is open to the public. Load-in and set-up have to be coordinated on a tight schedule. However, the in-house event department has a lot of experience working with production companies like us to ensure a successful event. Several en...

Revving Up for 2016!

Is it just us or is it difficult to shake off the relaxation of two long holiday weekends? We are happy to be back in the office and ready to go! Our water cooler conversation centers on our plans and resolutions for 2016 - and if we all stick with them we will be very healthy individuals. If our hopes for the world at large become true, it will be a better world. Now let's just hope these two aren't right: In the meantime, I wish you all the best for a joyous New Year filled with accomplishment, contentment, adventure and good health!  Happy 2016!  Janet
